Bone density measurement determines the density and calcium salt content of the bones. This allows a reduction in bone density (osteopenia) or osteoporosis to be detected. If osteoporosis is already known, we can monitor the therapeutic effect of treatment.
For the examination, very low-dose X-rays are sent through the measuring range and the attenuation of these rays is measured. The examination is painless and non-invasive.
You lie down on a special examination table that looks like a couch. The lumbar spine and the hip bones, sometimes the forearm, are used as the measuring point. No special preparation is necessary for the examination.
The method for determining bone density is called Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA). Our device is equipped with the latest bone density measurement technology for a quick and low-radiation examination.
