Autologous blood therapy is based on the knowledge that the growth factors contained in the blood can have a positive influence on healing processes. It is suitable for the treatment of joint pain, joint arthrosis and other inflammatory diseases. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient's arm vein and processed using a special separation process. As a result, the body's own regenerative factors (e.g. growth factors) are filtered out and concentrated. This optimized autologous blood serum is then injected into the diseased region without any foreign additives in order to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain and promote healing processes.
First, the blood sample is taken in our practice. The blood sample is then processed directly at our practice and takes approx. 7 hours. The processed blood serum is then injected by the radiologist under fluoroscopy or sonographic control at the site of the pain. Normally, up to four injections are carried out over several weeks at our center.
The procedure is suitable for inhibiting inflammation if, for example, cortisone cannot be used.
